Fun fact: many Health Activists are writers. By communicating with our online health communities virtually, we rely on the written word (and how we decide to rearrange them) to connect with others. Writing is something many people do – but few are actually great at. There’s nothing quite like coming across a blog whose blogger is a talented wordsmith and great storyteller. We know we can always improve our writing – but it’s not always easy to know how. In the spirit of blogging, discussion-starting, micro-blogging (Twitter! Statuses, etc), and creativity – April will be Health Activist Writer’s Month and mark the second-annual Health Activist Writer’s Month Challenge (#HAWMC)!
As Health Activists, our focus is helping engage, educate, and connect patients — and discuss how we’re using the internet to become better at caring for ourselves. This month we’re going to focus on another aspect of the healthcare realm – healthcare professionals. How are people working in the healthcare industry utilizing social media? And how can we work with them to improve healthcare overall? I believe Health Activists have the potential to be healthcare professionals best allies in implementing change and helping patients overall – so let’s aim high and go for it!
