Coming Soon: The Health Activist Writer’s Month Challenge!
Fun fact: many Health Activists are writers. By communicating with our online health communities virtually, we rely on the written word (and how we decide to rearrange them) to connect with others. Writing is something many people do – but few are actually great at. There’s nothing quite like coming across a blog whose blogger is a talented wordsmith and great storyteller. We know we can always improve our writing – but it’s not always easy to know how. In the spirit of blogging, discussion-starting, micro-blogging (Twitter! Statuses, etc), and creativity – April will be Health Activist Writer’s Month and mark the second-annual Health Activist Writer’s Month Challenge (#HAWMC)!
Because it’s one of our favorite things we’ve done with Health Activists – we’re starting to plan HAWMC now. Yes, we’re that excited (and hope you’re excited too).
Like we did last year, here on the WEGO Health Blog we’ll have 30 prompts for each of the 30 days of April. These prompts will help you write every day and hopefully unlock some creativity from within you. These prompts will just be suggestions – but sometimes that’s what you need! Since we’re starting now – if you sign up early – you’ll get the Early Bird Special and receive all 30 prompts directly in an email so you can start to plan your blogging ahead. When April rolls around – free to use our prompts to test yourself and get think out of the box with your health blog or health community. This year we will have prompts created by the whole WEGO Health Community team – so you’ll get a range of different prompts to try.
Don’t have a blog? There’s no better time to start one! Think of HAWMC as a push to make you finally take the plunge into blogging. When starting a new project – sometimes the worry is “what will I write about?” – we’ve taken care of that for you. And – hey. you may find out you love blogging. (We recommend trying a Tumblr as they are one of the easiest platforms to start blogging and posing media with.)
It’s going to be fun. But make sure you’re not the only one you know that’s HAWMCing – get your community involved, too. Know fellow Health Activists (or eager patients who could be awesome advocates)? Tell them about HAWMC. See how many people in your condition you can get involved in the challenge. It will inspire camaraderie in your community and offer good awareness to other HAWMC participants in other conditions. (And then you’ll have a built-in buddy system for holding yourself accountable for posting every day.)
Once you sign up (for the Early Bird Special) we’ll send you some easy-to-share items (a tweet, a status, and blog) that you can use to tell others about HAWMC.
Can you do 30 posts in 30 days? We think you can (and can’t wait to see what you write about).
Ok – Take me to HAWMC!
