Since November is a busy month of awareness events for a handful of active health communities – we thought it would be a good time to discuss awareness, advocacy, and how to keep yourself motivated when stress builds.
Whether your condition is often covered in the media, rife with stigma and misconceptions, or rare and unheard of – we’re all working towards a similar goal: making the lives of those who live with the condition better. Raising awareness means: correcting misinformation, redirecting people’s attention, and supporting causes that work toward better treatments, cures, and research. As Health Activists, we do it every day despite designated awareness events that may or may not exist. And it can be a huge challenge. It can be overwhelming, difficult, and disappointing when things don’t go as planned.
So how do you stay the course and keep yourself and your community focused on the greater goal of awareness?
Join our Health Activist Tweetchat today at 3pm to discuss:
- How you raise awareness
- Which awareness efforts in other conditions (or non-health related areas) inspire you
- The challenges of explaining what the truth about your condition is
- The struggle of correcting misinformation
- And how to stay motivated and inspired despite stress and self-doubt
It’s going to be an important health-leader-centric discussion and we look forward to hearing what you have to say!
